Ushike ngao na kinga usimame, unisaidie (Take up your shield and armor, arise and come to my aid)
Vuta we mkuki uwapige, wanaonifuatia (Brandish your spear against those who pursue me)
Uambie nafsi yangu mimi ni wokovu wako (Say to me “I am your salvation”)
Uwatoe mkuki uwapige, oh wanao nifuatia (Brandish your javelin, against those who pursue me)
Uambie nafsi yangu “mimi ni wokovu wako” (Say to me “I am your salvation”))
Wananiuliza mambo nisiyoyajua (They question me on things I know nothing about)

Waaibishwe wafedheheshwe (May they be disgraced and put to shame)

Wafadhaishwe, wawe kama makapi (May they be like chaff before the wind)
Mbele yao pepo malaika wa Bwana waangushe chini (With the angel of the Lord driving them away)

Wananilipa mabaya, badala ya mema (They repay me evil for good)
Kutwa kucha waniwinda ili niteseke (All day long, they hunt me so that I suffer)

Ubavuni mwako nikumbatie, Jehova wangu (Embrace me to your side, my Jehovah)

Mimi bure wasinisemange, bure wasinibonge (That they may not speak against me in vain)
Na uovu wao aloficha umnase mwenyewe (May the evil they hid, catch them)
Bila sababu amenichimbia shimo nafsi yangu (Since without cause they dug a pit for me,)
Mifupa yangu yote itasema (All my bones will exclaim)
“Bwana ni nani aliye kama wewe?” (“Who is like you, Lord?”)
Na nafsi yangu itamfurahia Bwana (Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord)
