(Sung in Swahili)
Refrain:
Naomba Baba, mi naomba, mikono nimeinua (I pray Father, with my hands lifted)
Nishike Baba, unifiche mikononi mwako (Hold me Father, hide me in your arms)
Nionyeshe Baba wema wako, unifanye chombo chako
(Show me your goodness, make me your vessel)
Ninaomba, naomba, baba mi naomba (Father, I pray)
Sikudhani mimi nimekupa we huzuni kiasi hicho (I didn’t know I grieved you that much)
Dhambi nyingi maombi hayatoki nisamehe Baba (I’ve sinned, not repented-forgive me)
Uchovu na uvivu umenijaza; moyoni sina amani (Laziness fill me; I have no peace)
Naomba unipe raha msamaha uwashe taa(I pray for joy, forgiveness & renewal)
Popote niendapo, chochote nifanyacho, nifungue macho (Open my eyes to my actions)
Nipate kuona, na kuhisi, nipate upako wako (That I may receive your anointing)
(Refrain)
Sikudhani mimi nikiteleza, nakusulubu tena (In my sin I was crucifying you again)
Uchungu mwingi machozi yakutoka, nisamehe Baba(You cried for me, forgive me)
Unizibie ufa, nisijenge ukuta, Bwana umetukua (Heal me my brokenness, be praised)
Naomba unipe raha msamaha, uwashe taa (I pray for joy, forgiveness & renewal)
Popote niendapo chochote nifanyacho, nifungue macho (Open my eyes to my actions)
Nipate kuona, na kuhisi, nipate upako wako (That I may receive your anointing)
(Refrain)

Many thanks. Again it sounds like Shona. Umba to us is the root word ‘mold’ as in ‘Mwari wakaumba munhu’ – God created man or ‘person’.
Thanks for the infor.

Naomba means to pray? I speak Shona from Zimbabwe and the verb Kuumba means to mold in shona like what happens with the potter. Are you sure they are saying pray not mold

There is a similar word in Swahili “Umba” which means “Create”
“Naomba” is Swahili for “I pray.” “Finyanga” would be “to mould” so “mould me” = “nifinyange”
Yes, I’m sure what they’re saying is correct. 🙂
Blessings.
